Black Window

I knew a man he was a giant of a man
he was my hero, he was my friend
I watched him wither, watched him fade away
at end of day the cancer could not eat his smile

white walls, black window
didn't hear the door
outside I hear a screaming

enter Mary Magdalene with all of her children
who wallow in a world of sin and fear
fervently do they profess and solemnly do they confess
to a father who does not seem to care

white walls, black window
didn't hear the door
outside I hear a screaming

some see death as the reaper grim
some see death as a maiden cold
I see death for what he really is
a stupid brat who trips the hapless and the weak

white walls, black window
didn't hear the door
outside I hear a screaming

white walls, black window
didn't hear the door
outside a raven's screaming
nevermore!
