Fleshworld Biographies
John Matthew Ian Davis - Bass and Voice John puts the "flesh," or perhaps the gristle, in Fleshworld. He has been in indie bands since anyone can remember, from the Illinois garage scene in the late '70s to the punk-rock college scene in the early '80s, bouncing through industrial noise and post-punk projects. He seriously turned from guitar to bass while working with Todd Parker and the Tadpoles (good bassists being in short supply during the Champaign scene heyday) and continued playing bass with Radio Free Mars after Todd moved the Tadpoles to NYC. The White Lilacs represented a songwriting move in the Gothic direction, epitomized bythe album "Sonata for Quartet and Thermonuclear Devices." John moved to Seattle in 1995 or 1996 (the records are vague on this point) and embarked on several solo and collaborative projects before launching Fleshworld with Lori Thantos in 2002.
Shane Ace Russell - Keyboards Shane brings the sparkle and shimmer to Fleshworld. He is a student of recording technology who has recorded numerous artists and loves sculpting sound. Almost as a side effect, he was drawn into playing live music, first with Forensic Down and later with Fleshworld. Shane usually has several irons in the fire, with engineering and producing gigs as well as recording efforts which range from electronica to pop-punk.
Amber Schwanke - Drums and Voice Amber is a lapsed clarinetist who accidentally became Fleshworld's drummer after the band re-formed in 2003. She supplies the band with its drive and grandeur, and also contributes vocal embellishments on those occasions when alcohol is readily available. She nurses dark dreams of someday returning to her former life as a Goth clarinetist. |
